About the Role

As our Accounting Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our team of Accountants by handling a variety of data entry, clerical, and bookkeeping tasks. You'll be responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of financial information, allowing our team to make informed decisions and provide exceptional service to our clients.  This is a full-time, in-person position perfect for someone who is passionate about accounting and numbers, comfortable with technology, and eager to work with a collaborative team.  The ideal candidate has experience with QuickBooks Online and has experience wearing multiple hats providing administrative support in a fast-paced small business.

The below is not an extensive list; due to the nature of our company, some positions may have additional or overlapping job functions.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Review, enter, code, and validate financial transactions and reconcile multiple data sources

  • Prepare general correspondence and reports and provide administrative support to the team of Accountants

  • Partner with Accountants to support bookkeeping duties, audit preparation, data entry, and report generation

  • Process invoices, transactions, and expenses and maintain accounting databases

  • Provide assistance for month-end and year-end close procedures

  • Support additional client and administrative projects

  • Maintain electronic and paper filing systems

  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable administration, processing invoices, and supporting payroll administration

  • Provide clerical support to other departments as needed, including receptionist, office manager, and leadership

 

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of general office/clerical experience to include experience processing payroll, handling accounts payable and accounts receivables, or providing bookkeeping support

  • Experience supporting an Accounting team highly desired

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Training or courses in business administration, accounting, or bookkeeping a plus

  • Must be tech savvy and comfortable with various computer software systems and Internet/website navigation

  • Experience with QuickBooks Online and bookkeeping processes highly preferred

  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize work

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational and planning skills in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on customer service and building relationships

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Job Type: Full-time.

Working Conditions: This position is onsite at 1803 Research Blvd, Rockville, MD 20850. Work hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm (unless otherwise approved by Leadership), including lunch.

Physical Requirements: Office setting. Employee needs to be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Position requires the ability to work on a desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time, reading, reviewing/analyzing information, and providing recommendations, summaries, and/or reports in written format. Must be able to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing. Employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically less than 20 pounds. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
